Marco Gardin
Co-Founder of Supply Logica and associate at OBBOIS
Nature has always been where I retreat to find peace and enjoyment. Some of my earliest memories include family holidays in the mountains, where I explored the forests and their birdlife. As I grew older, so did my interest in nature. My choice was obvious when the time came to study; I had the feeling that I had found my path from the very beginning of my studies in forestry at the University of Padua in Italy.
Once I’d finished my studies, I immediately got involved in FSC certification, supporting companies in Italy and Cameroon by working as a Chain of Custody auditor for several certification bodies in Europe. Then in 2015, I managed the implementation of Saint Gobain Distribution’s Wood Policy, first in France, and then across the entire scope of the group’s activities in Europe.
Now an expert in Chain of Custody certification with over 18 years of experience, I possess a deep understanding of the wood and paper industry. This expertise has led me to conduct several hundred certification audits since 2005. Initially at FCBA and later at Bureau Veritas, where I managed national and international client portfolios, providing technical support and commercial follow-ups for Chain of Custody certification, particularly FSC certification. I was also entrusted with training auditors and developing audit methods and operations for Bureau Veritas’ international network for FSC, PEFC, and OLB certifications.
For the last 10 years, I have dedicated my experience and skills to the clients of OBBOIS, a company I helped build alongside my current business partner, Olivier Bonneau. My focus has been on training and supporting companies in adhering to regulations (RBUE, RDUE, Lacey Act, CITES) concerning timber importation and sales, as well as securing and upholding Chain of Custody certifications (FSC, PEFC, OLB, etc.). Today, my professional focus is on building a robust service through Supply Logica, by providing effective solutions for businesses impacted by EUDR.
